Eight people have been charged with fishing illegally in the Akaroa and Pohatu Marine Reserves over the summer.
Their cases were all listed for first appearances at the Christchurch District Court today, but all were given registrar’s remands without having to go before a judge.
Kelly Hutchings, 46, a carpenter, Chris Henley, 35, unemployed, David Jones, 51, a regional manager, Mark Sutton, 39, a builder, and Kevin Hodgson, 41, all of Christchurch, are all charged with unlawfully taking marine life from the Pohatu Reserve on December 16.
All have pleaded not guilty and were remanded to case review hearings on July 18.
Harrison Carter, 21, a student, Tycen Donaldson Cripps, 22, a builder, and Elliot Sizer, 29, a boiler maker, all of Christchurch, are charged with unlawfully taking marine life from the Akaroa Reserve on February 9.
These three were remanded without plea to July 4.
Both reserves are near the Akaroa Heads.
