Five people accused of being part of an alleged axe attack at the Riccarton Bus Lounge last month have been remanded on bail at the Christchurch District Court and the Youth Court.
Youths aged 15 and 16 appeared before Judge Jane McMeeken in the Youth Court and were remanded on bail to appear again on April 19.
Both youths denied charges of wounding a man with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in an incident on March 17. The police say the alleged victim was treated in hospital for three cracked ribs and a head injury.
One of the youths also faced a charge of threatening to kill, arising from another incident. He entered no plea on that charge.
Both youths are not allowed to go within 200m of the bus lounge during their remand.
Three other men aged 20, 19, and 18 appeared in the district court and were granted registrar’s remands without plea, to appear again on April 26. All are on bail. All three face the joint charge of wounding with intent, and the 18-year-old also faces a charge of intimidating someone by threatening to injure him.
